Airsports are an esoteric sport. While the sky is for everyone, the adrenaline-filled sports in these skies is not for everybody.
For those who enjoy them though, this is for you. Let’s take a look at several airsport events and competitions to take place in 2018.
AKA Convention
First up, we have the America Kitefliers Association or AKA Convention. The AKA Convention will be taking place on October 15 to 20 at the Shreveport Convention Center in Louisiana.
This is the annual gathering of everyone who belongs to the AKA. Don’t worry though, because everyone is invited to this annual event.
In this event, there will be a lot of events that you can watch and even join. You have the competition for people who make kites, a competition for sport kites, a fighter kite competition, an indoor kite flying workshop, and so much more.
Apart from that, this event is great for children. You can bring your kids for the Kids Fly and Kids Kitemaking events that they are sure to enjoy. It is fun for the whole family.
Drone Racing Championship
Next up we have the FAI World Drone Racing Championships. This event is for those drone lovers and enthusiasts who want to see the best handlers duke it out to see who is the fastest and who controls the drones the savviest.
These events are set to start in Shenzhen, China on the 1st to the 4th of November. As many as 100 competitors from 32 nations will come together to compete for this event.
There are four races to join: one for women, one for young people, one for the general public, and one for national teams.
The races take place with six drones up in the air. They fly around a closed circuit and the first finisher wins. The circuit is comprised of several obstacles that the drones need to get by.
The races take only three minutes.
